We value continuing education and technical training for all members of our team. We also like to get to know our patients. Now, here’s a chance to get to know a little about us.
Dr. Richard Nelson, D.D.S.
“I still look forward to every day.” Dentistry is a perfect fit for Dr. Nelson. He enjoys the customized lab work, the precision of high quality hand tools, and the satisfaction of working with the most advanced materials and techniques. But it’s building trust with patients that matters most. Whether you’re here for a cleaning, a crown or cosmetic procedure, Dr. Nelson takes time to see almost every patient. He is always focused on personal attention, individualized care, and long-lasting results. “I don’t take any short cuts. I take time to make sure it’s right because that’s good dentistry.”

Melissa has over 10 years experience as a Dental Assistant and Dental Hygienist. She has also been an instructor in dental hygiene at the University of Iowa Clinics. That explains why she enjoys educating patients and helping them improve their oral health. She provides preventative dental care, like teeth cleaning and exams.
What to ask Melissa: How ‘bout them Cubs?
Expanded Function Dental Assistant and Business Coordinator
Lisa likes helping patients understand why they need treatment, and she loves to see how their confidence grows as their smile changes. In addition to providing dental care, Lisa can set you up with Care Credit, a payment plan that allows you to make payments over the course of six months, with no interest.
Why Lisa likes spring: It’s time to do some gardening!
Making patients feel more comfortable during procedures is how Kristen spends her day as an assistant to Dr. Nelson. “I’ve always had a passion for the field of dentistry and I enjoy working with the patients,” she says. She is currently training to become an Expanded Function Dental Assistant.
Words of wisdom from Kristen: Always spend your energy focusing on the silver lining.

To Tiffany, the best part of working in dentistry is “giving patients their smiles back.” She does this by designing crowns, making temps, taking impressions and in- office teeth whitening. “I like having patients know they are in good hands when they are here.”
If you see Tiffany outside of work: She’ll probably be with her two daughters. Or rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Or both.
Patients always ask Monica what the Cavitron does. And she’s happy to explain how it cleans out bacteria and how it helps their oral hygiene. Educating patients is just one of the ways Monica has been providing relaxed, comfortable dental care for over 14 years.
Monica’s latest adventures: Riding the Harley, hiking, camping, and international traveling.
